Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

  • Date & Time:
    • November 22, 2018
    • For Lunch

We will celebrate Thanksgiving at the CAB on Thursday November 22rd at lunch time in the preschool and elementary levels.

Teachers will enjoy a meal with students. We invite parents to contribute if they wish by making a pie for the occasion. Several PTA parents will help with the meal.

Thanksgiving is a national autumn holiday celebrated in October and November in Canada and the United States. Thanksgiving Day can be traced back to the 1621 celebration at the Plymouth Plantation in Massachusetts, when the refugees from England known as the Pilgrims invited the local Native Americans to a harvest feast after a particularly successful growing season.  Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it is celebrated in our school as an opportunity to learn with children the important values of thankfulness, gratitude, respect and sharing.

On this occasion the children will have a special meal at the canteen, with pumkin soup, turkey and potatoes on the menu.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving , we ask parents to bring a desert at school that the children will share. It would be so kind if you could to bring your desert to school on Thursday 22rd Morning.

NB : Thanksgiving traditional deserts are pies and tarts: apple, pecan, sweet potatoes pies or cakes with nuts, pumpkin, fruits or apples… The pilgrims had no chocolate at that time so chocolate cakes are not part of the traditional meal J

Thanks in advance for your help and involvement,
